http://www.SilverRack.com, provider of virtual private server (VPS) hosting,
today announced the release of new features available to all users of its
services. SilverRack's server management application now allows customers
to create backup snapshot images of their servers on demand. Additionally,
SilverRack added a specialized Ruby on Rails template to its list of available
VPS templates.
SilverRack's snapshot functionality allows users to create and restore
images of their custom virtual servers. Users simply purchase as many
images as they need. Snapshot images offer users many benefits. For
example:
* Snapshots can function as backups of server data.
* Users can create custom test environments which can be reused.
* A faulty software upgrade can be reverted by restoring from a snapshot image.
"I've already been saved by SilverRack's great snapshot feature. A
recent software update to our e-commerce server was causing payment
processing failures." said Adam Lane, President of AgileTrack
Software, LLC. "We were able to quickly restore to a working
configuration from one of our snapshots, and track down the problem
without affecting our business."
SilverRack provides numerous operating system templates with
pre-configured software. Ruby on Rails is a web technology designed
for rapid development and deployment. SilverRack's Ruby on Rails
VPS image comes pre-configured with CentOS 4, MySQL, Ruby on Rails,
Apache 2.2, ImageMagick, and Mongrel. The configuration allow businesses to
rapidly and inexpensively move their Ruby on Rails applications into production.
"With a deadline looming and working in crunch-mode to get the
software finished, we didn't have time to worry about getting a server
ready to deploy the site," said Scott Brady, CEO of MyGardenPlans.com.
"SilverRack's Ruby on Rails template made deployment easy. The
pre-configured virtual server worked like a charm. We were able to
create the server and deploy the site in minutes."
SilverRack specializes in affordable, Linux-based virtual private
server (VPS) hosting, using high-performance servers and
