Place Space & Identity is a new programme of temporary arts projects providing opportunities for artists and the general public to respond to the social, economic and environmental changes taking place locally now.
The partners
This innovative programme was developed in a unique collaboration between Arts Council West Midlands, RENEW North Staffordshire and local arts leaders B Arts and Airspace to capture the impact of the immense regeneration schemes planned for the area.
National Competition
Place Space and Identity opportunities were advertised nationally and over 300 artists asked for more information about the programmes.
Of the 10 projects commissioned, worth around £70,000 of arts work in total, 6 are locally based artists and arts companies including both emergent artists such as visual artist Rachel Grant, and established figures such as photographer Roger Brown.
Place Space & Identity was launched at the Spode Art Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent on Wednesday 3rd October, when the artists were announced and congratulated by Sally Luton chief executive of Arts Council England West Midlands
Place Space & Identity is funded by Arts Council England West Midlands and Renew North Staffordshire, is managed by B arts, and is supported by a core group including AirSpace.
