FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Nov 13, 2007 – Between 1998 and 2007 there have been 357 reported hyperthermia deaths (heat stroke) of infants and children unintentionally forgotten in hot cars, thirty-five (35) of these deaths happened this year.

We all wonder, what kind of a person could let this happen?  Ask yourself this question.  Have I ever driven from point A to point Z and not remembered the drive?  I don't remember turning left on Main Street, or stopping at the red light on 4th Street.  But I must have.  I arrived at my destination safely, didn't I?  Scary isn't it?  If you haven't had this experience, you are fortunate.  If you have, it might help put into perspective how busy our lives are and how these tragedies can and do occur. This is not meant as an indictment or judgement of  parental love and caring, unfortunately however,  it is just today's reality.

FORGET ME NOT USA is on a mission to save lives and reduce the number of children who die from hyperthermia (after being left alone in a hot car) each year to zero. For the purchase of one $3.00 ribbon magnet, you can join Forget Me Not USA in spreading the word and reminding everyone to NEVER LEAVE A CHILD UNATTENDED IN A CAR, FOR ANY REASON.

The FORGET ME NOT sticker and magnet was inspired by a father who appeared on the Oprah Show a few years ago. He shared his tragic experience of forgetting his child in his car in the hope his story would save other families from suffering the same tragedy. Being a parent myself, I can imagine his despair and pain when he realized he had forgotten to drop the baby off at daycare.

I knew I couldn't just sit on the couch and listen to the reports on the nightly news and read about them in the newspaper. In some small measure, I needed to find a way help. Thus the Forget Me Not website, stickers and magnets were developed.
