(Washington D.C.) AMERICA! Stores just opened a new store on the 100 block of King Street in Old Town Alexandria, a locale where the red ribbon was cut for the first AMERICA! store nearly 20 years ago. During the last two decades, AMERICA! has established itself as one of DC and Virginia’s favorite retailers of quality merchandise reflecting the local area, current events, history, government and the culture of the USA.
Jane Crawford started AMERICA! on April 2nd, 1988, on the second floor of 210 King Street. “I kept hearing people say that they couldn’t find things made in America. I felt there was a market niche to be filled” said Crawford. Key to the success of the business was the need to recognize and embrace change along the way. AMERICA!
As evidence of this demand for American-themed merchandise, AMERICA! has since thrived through its 13 (and growing) retail stores, catalog, and website, allowing millions of customers to express and experience the pride and spirit of America. Over the years, the company has developed thousands of private label products in a variety of regional, patriotic, political and specialty themes.
And what better way to celebrate its 20th anniversary than by opening a store within a block of its original location in 1988, and across the street from its second location at 118 King Street during 1991-2000? The new store is located at 113 King Street, about a block from the Potomac River, and features general political and patriotic merchandise, as well as unique Virginia/Washington DC-centric gifts.
Whether supplying customers with products to express themselves and show their patriotism, or helping the community through fundraising programs, AMERICA! has earned its status as a premier retailer of every patriotic and political want imaginable. Crawford’s original endeavor was a brainchild leading to a company that has become fused with the very culture of the DC metro area.
Other store locations are Union Station, West Hall, (AMERICA!’s Spirit!), Ronald Reagan National Airport, National Hall, Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, 3rd Level, Washington Dulles International Airport, concourses B, C, and D, Baltimore Washington International Airport, coming soon to downtown Annapolis MD and National Harbor, MD, and of course, 113 King Street, Old Town Alexandria. http://www.AmericaStore.com
