Nov 13, 2007 – The Australian music label, Hidden Shoal Recordings, today announced the release of the single ‘The First Step to End the Life (Si Begg Remix)’ by Japanese artist The Retail Sectors.
The Si Begg remix of ‘The First Step to End the Life’ is a work of unstoppable melancholic euphoria. From the opening strains of The Retail Sectors woven melodic guitar riff your attention is immediately entangled and just as you attempt to unwind yourself Si Begg delivers a driving heartbeat that attaches itself to your chest as if it were your own.

The collision of Si Beggs brilliant sense of rhythm and feel and The Retail Sectors sonic and melodic complexity make for a track that simultaneously engages the head and the body. Layering manipulated guitars, bass, drums and electronics to create compelling, melodic instrumentals, the music of The Retail Sectors frequently threatens to spiral out of control, yet like an exquisite train wreck holds the listener rapt. Inspired by the video game music of Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy) and the movie soundtracks of Joe Hisaishi, The Retail Sectors is one of the musical projects of the multi-talented Kentaro Togawa. Born in 1985 in Yamanashi, Japan, Kentaro has been involved in the Japanese music scene since the age of 16.
Kentaro Togawa, guitarist and aural snake charmer, weaves ten mysterious, fragile, yet ever spiraling webs of sound, with his axe providing a layered, powerful, even moving set of densely composed pieces. - Foxy Digitalis
Si Begg is an English DJ and producer who has established a reputation as one of dance music’s most indiosyncratic artists. He has recorded for labels ranging from Ninja Tune to Virgin Records.
Hidden Shoal Recordings will release the mini album Foregone Conclusion by The Retail Sectors on the 4th of December, 2007.
