SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Think you know modern design? The Santa Monica Design District is kicking off the holiday season with an evening of design trivia at the first-ever SMDD Design Challenge on Thursday, Nov. 29, and you are invited.
Each showroom will pose a question related to modern design, presented in its unique way whether through a creative window display or an interactive set-up. The challenge will be to come up with the correct answer. As a player you’ll start by picking up an entry form and map at any participating SMDD location. As you tour the various showrooms and pick your brain for answers, you can enjoy the best in modern design along with wine and hors d’oeuvres. At stake are some exceptional prizes – design items from Design Within Reach, Eames Office, InterfaceFLOR and Knoll. But beware: the Westside is full of design savvy individuals so the competition is sure to be tough.
The event will go from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at which point entries must be turned in to any showroom. Select showrooms will host “answer parties” where the correct answers will be revealed. Winners will be drawn from a pool of correct answer sheets and notified by e-mail a few days after the event.
Participating showrooms include Boffi, Design Within Reach, Eames Office, InterfaceFLOR, Knoll, Linea, Neoporte and Viesso.
