Co-authors Dana Moore and Michele Kelly were disenchanted with their past experiences with dieting. They missed the flavor and variety of their favorite foods, but followed the diet routines carefully. After years of going from one plan to another on a diet roller coaster ride, they realized the diets were failing them by not providing a realistic long term plan to keep the weight off. They were hungry for something better and just weren’t going to take it anymore! Being proactive they gathered what they’d learned from past diets and did a little research to learn more about healthy eating. Dana and Michele stripped their favorite recipes of carbohydrates, bad fats, and sugars and replaced them with flavorful alternatives.
The result was easy to prepare healthy menus with recipes for all occasions. Their low carb lifestyle includes appetizers, salads and dressings, vegetable dishes, entrees and desserts made with whole foods right off the grocer’s shelf. Dana’s and Michele’s recipes for Old Fashioned Meatloaf, Chicken Cacciatore and Pecan Pie won the praise of friends and family who couldn’t believe they were actually eating low carb foods. More importantly, the meals were so delicious and satisfying that it was easy for the co-authors to stick with their new healthy low carb lifestyle.
Friends and relatives frequently asked the co-authors to share their delicious recipes. Dana and Michele decided to compile them in a book and “Tastefully Yours: Menus for a Low Carb Lifestyle” was born.
The authors have a healthy holiday menu on their website that promises to fool the staunchest of critics. They’ll thing they’re eating gourmet when they bite into the orange marinated turkey with cornbread stuffing and pecan pie for desert!
This is not a diet plan or diet cookbook per se, but rather a collection of nearly 200 tasty and easy to prepare healthy low carb recipes that everyone can enjoy. “Tastefully Yours…” is formatted in a way that is easy to read and follow. There are tables for each recipe listing the protein, effective carbohydrates, and fiber counts. Everyone can benefit from this cookbook regardless of their diet preferences.
