Nov 08, 2007 – DATELINE: MARSHFIELD, MA…Over the past four years, Damon, Topham and Company, LLC of Marshfield have been raising funds for the Marshfield Boys and Girls Club by making a $1,000 donation and encouraging other like-minded businesses who care about the community to do the same. Last year a record $25,000 was raised through the accounting firm’s efforts.
Damon Topham has kicked off this year’s fundraiser with a $1,000 donation to the Marshfield Boys and Girls Club and they are challenging other Marshfield businesses to match their donation. All donations are tax-deductible.
With more than 1,000 members, the Marshfield Boys and Girls Club provides the Town of Marshfield’s youth with enrichment and recreation programs in a safe environment. The family membership fee is $50, but those who can’t afford the fee receive scholarships thanks to fundraisers similar to Damon Topham’s.
According to Greg Jackson, the club's executive director, “In order to continue to offer scholarships to families who cannot afford the membership fee as well as expand programming as membership grows, the Boys and Girls Club needs financial support from the business community. Businesses who choose to take the challenge and support the Marshfield Boys and Girls Club will certainly be recognized in our club’s publicity.”
Currently, the club operates from a 4,000 square-foot storefront space at Library Plaza and due to membership growth, may need to find larger space as early as next year.
Business owners can contribute to the Damon Topham Challenge based on four scholarship levels. Categories of giving include Gold members at $1,000; Silver members at $500; Bronze members at $250, and businesses that contribute under $250 are considered to be Friends of the Boys and Girls Club.
