MDS expands Chinese central labs

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 08, 2007 – MDS Pharma Services (King of Prussia, Pennsylvania) has expanded its central lab operations in China, moving to a new, 25,000 sq ft facility near Beijing airport.  The new facility offers a five-fold increase in testing capacity, four times the space to produce clinical trial kits, and a wider range of specialised testing services.

The facility specialises in molecular biology testing for infectious diseases, DNA banking and pharmacogenomics.  It also offers enhanced molecular biology techniques, a microbiology lab and flow cytometry capabilities (used increasingly in oncology and immune disorders).  

MDS Pharma Services has been in China for some 10 years and has managed about 30,000 patients in clinical trials.  It claims to have been the first western CRO to own its facility in China and the first clinical laboratory in China to receive accreditation from the College of American Pathologists.
