RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh financial advisor and business owner Michael J. Sterling of Banyan Rock and Talent, along with wealth strategists Brant Spesshardt, Dale Merritt and Steven Canali, attended the National Education & Business Conference (NEBC) held Oct. 2-5.
The NEBC was held by FSC Securities Corporation, an independent broker-dealer based in Atlanta, Ga., affiliated with Banyan, Rock and Talent. The conference featured panel discussions between former U.S House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Tennessee Senator Harold Ford, Jr. about today’s economy.
Throughout the four-day conference, Sterling, Spesshardt, Merritt and Canali participated in numerous workshops on liability management, retirement planning, mortgages, credit liabilities and business succession planning. In total, the event featured more than 100 sessions.
“Having an opportunity to hear the views of two major Washington insiders like Gingrich and Ford on issues that have a major influence on the way I serve my clients was an invaluable experience,”
During the panel debate, Fred Barnes, editor of the Weekly Standard and FOX News contributor, moderated a discussion on topics that will impact the financial field in the coming year. Gingrich and Ford offered their views on issues including the 2008 presidential election, an accelerating baby boomer retirement trend, the real estate and subprime mortgage crisis, recent stock markets volatility and a “going green” environmental movement that is quickly gaining momentum.
