Quintiles Transnational (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina) has acquired Central American CRO Bio-Trials. The purchase was made by Quintiles’ Latin American subsidiary, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The leaders of Bio-Trials, general manager Hans Ardon and head of clinical operations Dr Monica Lizano, as well as all of the Bio-Trials staff, have joined Quintiles. The Bio-Trials brand name will be discontinued and the company will now operate as part of Quintiles Latin America.
Bio-Trials has its headquarters in Panama and offices in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador and Peru, with supply distribution points in Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Peru. It provides clinical monitoring, clinical site co-ordination, regulatory support, study management and supply distribution services. Bio-Trials has conducted about 30 clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies and CROs in 10 Central and South American countries.
Founded in 1995, Quintiles Latin America has some 600 employees and offices in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. It offers project management, clinical trial monitoring, regulatory, drug safety, site management, quality assurance, central laboratory and clinical trial supplies services.
