The FotoDialer—A telephone accessory that completes calls at the touch of a button— is helping parents to feel secure in their children’s ability to use the telephone in emergency situations.
“We greatly appreciate the FotoDialer when one of the bigger kids is left babysitting for a few minutes while Mom drives someone to a class,” explained Elizabeth Jeffrey. “I know that if there is an emergency or a concern, the kids can easily press the button next to Mommy and Daddy's picture, and if for some reason one of us is not available, my children have at their fingertips the pictures of grandmas, grandpas, neighbors, aunts and uncles to help them.”
The Fotodialer allows children to call their parents’ work or cell phone by simply recognizing a photograph and pushing the corresponding button— Pre-printed flash cards also allow children to reach other emergency contacts including the police and poison control.
“We made the pre-printed flash cards specifically to help children to be able to recognize emergency services,” said Son Le, inventor of the FotoDialer. “Parents aren’t always around to watch their kids and the FotoDialer allows children to act independently in case of an emergency.”
