Meet Bailey, the star of a new preschool curriculum, specifically designed to meet the needs of toddlers and two’s.
The Itty-Bitty Bookworm, a literature-based preschool curriculum company, has a program for three to five year olds, known as Bo’s Curriculum. Bo is the bookworm mascot for which the curriculum was named. Now “Bo” has a new friend named Bailey. Bailey, a younger worm who wants to learn to read, now has a curriculum, as well.
Bailey’s curriculum is the product of The Itty-Bitty Bookworm truly listening to their customers. “Upon the launching of our preschool-age curriculum, our customers were excited and enthusiastic about our literature-based program. However, we received many emails asking us to please create a program for toddlers and two’s ,” says Tara Rison, Founder of the company. So the staff began talking to their customers and soon learned that there was a need for an age-appropriate, literature –based program for this age group, as well.
Bailey’s Curriculum is similar to Bo’s curriculum in that it is a monthly, literature-based program, which can be purchased as a kit or on CD. Each kit contains 2 children’s books, monthly lesson plans, activity ideas, shape, color and vocabulary display cards, art supplies, and observation records for assessment. The CDs contain files of all printed materials from the kits.
Bailey’s Curriculum is grounded in research and fundamentals endorsed by NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). “There are lots of other programs available. However, parents should really take a look at them before deciding and purchasing. If a program designed for toddler and two’s is using worksheets to teach and reinforce basic skills, be concerned. This is just not the best method for teaching young children, especially toddlers and two’s. These children need hands-on learning activities and lots of opportunities for vocabulary development,”
Parents, preschool teachers and directors, and family child care owners will all benefit from this curriculum. Not only will it save you money, but it will also save you time for what is really important – your little bookworms!
