No More Crossing a Room in the Dark:
Lutron Introduces the Abella™ Digital Fade Dimmer
Another Energy Efficient Tool from the Company Committed to Green Design
Coopersburg, PA – The risks associated with turning off the lights, and then walking across a dark room to settle into bed are now removed with the introduction of the Abella™ digital fade dimmer from Lutron Electronics Co. Inc.
The Lutron Abella dimmer provides 30 seconds for someone to cross a room safely before the lights fade to off. Abella can be installed in any room or area of the house to provide the same delayed turn-off action.
“How many of us have tripped over something or stubbed a toe by banging into a piece of furniture while making our way across a dark room?” said John Hewson, Lutron’s Product Manager for Abella. “Abella eliminates that risk for any room in the house where the Abella dimmer is installed.”
Abella digital fade dimmers and companion dimmers work together to dim lights—not just turn them on or off—from either end of a staircase or hallway, or from any entrance to a room.
Abella’s buttons feature a sleek, curved design that is comfortable for the fingertips. The large buttons make it easy for anyone to dim the lights or turn them on and off.
Activating the 30-second timer is easy. Simply press the on/off button until the dimmer’s LED flashes (in about a second) and then release. The LED also serves as an indicator of a room’s current light level, which can be determined at a glance—and it makes it easy to find the dimmer in the dark.
This product line also includes companion dimmers, digital switches, and companion switches. Dimmers are available as incandescent/
Lutron dimmers, including Abella, are energy efficient. Dimming the lights at only a 10 percent level saves a full 10 percent in electricity and extends an incandescent bulb’s life to twice as long. Dimming the lights at a 75 percent level realizes a 60 percent savings in electricity and extends the life of the bulb 20 times longer or
more.
