PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 26, 2007 -
The benefits of recycling within the community really came to the fore when the chairman of Epping Forest District Council Councillor Caroline Pond officially opened a brand new play area at Chigwell Station Green on Friday 26th October.  The brand new equipment installed by Watford-based Monster Play Systems is manufactured with a very high content of recycled materials, and the old equipment it replaced was donated to ELHAP, the North London charity that provides adventure playgrounds for children, young people and adults with disabilities

The project was driven by Chigwell Parish Councillors after local residents urged them to upgrade the old play area, because they felt that their children should enjoy modern activities rather than using the same equipment they played on more than 20 years ago.  The new play area was funded jointly by a ‘partnership’ comprising Chigwell Parish Council, Epping Forest District Council and Essex County Council, and designed to provide a play area that would be modern, stimulating and provide a challenge for children of all ages.
The centrepiece is a BigToys Acclaim unit which will hold more than 30 children and incorporates 8 activities in the one unit. The innovative Rock ‘n Cross combines a multi rider see-saw with a dynamic overhead challenge, while the Skygame  challenges users of all ages to an aerial traverse using only mobile ‘pods’. Special wet pour safety rubber surfacing covers the play area and provides a gentle landing for any youngster who might fall from the new equipment.
Clerk to the Parish Council, Susan Deluca commented, “We wanted a play area that would complement the locality and be safe, but more importantly, one which had a real ‘Wow’ factor so the young people and mums with toddlers would want to use it. The new equipment is superb and really has achieved what we wanted. It’s also environmentally friendly and finding a new home for the old equipment means we are not just improving facilities, but it has a minimal effect on the environment in Chigwell.”
