Oct 27, 2007 – Mr. Matthias Roeke, an eighteen-year hospitality veteran with vast international exposure has recently been appointed general manager of Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort in Kota Kinabalu, a premier five-star holiday destination in Sabah, Malaysia.
A proven and valuable member of the Shangri-La group, Mr. Roeke joins the 495-room resort from his most recent position as the resident manager at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, and a previous posting at Kowloon Shangri-la, Hong Kong.
Mr Roeke attended hotel school training in his native Germany, commencing his professional career in Berlin. He has since been involved on an executive level with the opening of five-star hotels in Stuttgart, Germany; Mumbai, India and Seoul, Korea. Mr. Roeke’s career has brought him to various destinations around the globe, including Singapore, South Africa and Thailand.
With his extensive knowledge and experience gained working in established hotels complemented by his strong customer relationship and leadership skills, Mr. Roeke will continue to ensure Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort, Kota Kinabalu is Sabah’s premier luxury resort.
