Bone Hampton is one of redemptive comedy’s most well traveled and in-demand funnymen. From comedy clubs to churches to sitcoms, his comedic smarts know no bounds. He got his start by entering and winning a Wanda impersonation contest hosted by Oscar® winner Jamie Foxx, the comedian who popularized the Wanda character on the sketch comedy show "In Living Color." The exposure from the Wanda contest led to other opportunities for Bone, including an appearance in the movie "Necessary Roughness" and a chance to hone his skills at The Steve Harvey Comedy House, where he performed regularly in his hometown of Dallas, Texas.
After studying the comic circuit in Los Angeles and finding an industry abounding with foul-mouthed comedy, Bone found his own niche. "I saw a level of hardcore comedy that I’d never been around," he says. "I realized that was not for me and I did not want to go in that direction. But I could make people laugh by focusing on an area of life that I knew well—the Bible and how Christians think. And I found that audiences loved it—most everyone has had some kind of experience relating to God, the Bible or the church. And many people don’t realize that there is so much humor in being a Christian!"
Sharpening his comedic skills opened many doors for Bone to expand his career. In addition to doing stand-up and recording his own CDs, Bone has scored opening slots on tours with the likes of Jonathan Slocumb, Chonda Pierce and Carman. In addition, he has logged television appearances on ABC’s "Less Than Perfect," NBC’s "My Name Is Earl" and "Medium," BET’s "Comic View" and the syndicated "Comics Unleashed" with Byron Allen, among others.
