FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 23, 2007 -
The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs has approved a further EUR611k for a housing project in Ennis, less than a week after it allocated EUR1.1M for two other housing projects in Cratloe in Ennis.  The three projects will provide a total of fourteen units of accommodation for persons with a disability.

According to Minister Killeen, "My colleague, Batt O'Keeffe T.D., Minister for Housing, Urban Renewal and Developing Areas, today informed me that he has approved funding that will allow for the provision of 6 units of accommodation at Oakleigh Woods, Tulla Rd., Ennis. The accommodation is being provided by Newgrove Housing Association, in co-operation with Clare County Council and is for allocation to disabled persons."

He continued, "This latest announcement complements last week’s funding allocation for the provision of 2 units of accommodation at Brookville, Lahinch Rd., Ennis and 6 units of accommodation at Green Hill, Cratloemoyle, Cratloe."

"EUR785,350 has been allocated for the housing project in Cratloe.  The accommodation is being provided by Bawnmore Housing Association
Limited, in co-operation with Clare County Council and will be allocated to disabled persons.  Meanwhile, EUR299,005 has been set aside for the housing project in Ennis where the accommodation is being provided by Banner Housing Association Limited, in co-operation with Clare County Council.  Once again, the accommodation will be allocated to persons with a disability", stated Minister Killeen.

According to Minister Killeen, "All in all these housing projects are hugely positive developments for local people with a disability, their families, carers, support workers, and organisations in the community that assist people with a disability."

"I would like to compliment Clare County Council and the respective Housing Associations for working together on these proposed Schemes, which will provide much needed units of accommodation for persons with a disability in Ennis, Cratloe and surrounding areas", concluded Minister Killeen.
