The platinum Oyster Perpetual Day-Date automatic was one of the highlights of 472 items up for sale at Fellows & Sons yesterday (Monday 22nd October).
It puts on a specialist wrist and pocket watches sale every three months: http://www.fellows.co.uk/
Managing partner Stephen Whittaker said: “Top quality watches such as these always attract a lot of attention, which is always good for the other items in the sale.
“You always get some very interesting items and this auction was no exception.”
Some of the other highlights of the sale included:
• An 18th century underpainted horn and gilt metal pair cased pocket watch, which sold for £480
• Two gentlemen’s wristwatches valued at £200 to £300, but which sold for £900
• A Movado gentleman’s 18k triple date manual watch, which sold for £840
• Another Movado gentleman’s steel manual wind chronograph watch, which was valued at £120 to £180 and sold for £420
