The latest antique and modern jewellery sale from a Birmingham auctioneers has been another success, with more than 970 lots going on sale.
The sale today (Thursday 18th October) was held by 131 year old auctioneer Fellows & Sons: http://www.fellows.co.uk.
A number of pieces attracted plenty of attention and some furious bidding, with many selling for more than their estimate: http://www.fellows.co.uk/
As well as in the room and phone bidders, the auctioneer encourages bids from buyers across the world. It uses internet bidding technology and provides a live audio feed of the auction.
Some of the sale’s highlights included:
• A set of diamond and opal drop earrings valued at up to £80, which sold for £200
• A garnet necklace with eleven alternating oval and round cut red garnets. This was valued at up to £120 to £180, and finally sold for £280
• In the antique jewellery sale, an early 20th century 15 carat gold amethyst and split pearl brooch, which was valued at £180 to £250 and sold for £400
