The hinged egg pendants are collectors’ items and could fetch up to £100 each.
The sale is at 10.30am on Thursday 18th October 2007, at 131 year old Birmingham auctioneer Fellows & Sons: http://www.fellows.co.uk.
There are 970 lots in the sale, including some significant antique jewellery pieces, which can be seen at http://www.fellows.co.uk/
The egg pendants have different designs, including:
• A gold white guilloche enamelled egg pendant with a central black and red enamelled bug motif
• A gold green guilloche enamelled egg pendant with vertical gold ridged branding and overlaid bird design
• A gold yellow guilloche enamelled pendant with a central inlaid paste, surrounded by red enamel and surmounted by leaf detail
As well as these items, there are hundreds of other pieces of antique and modern jewellery up for sale.
Fellows has invested heavily in virtual catalogues online, and technology to allow buyers anywhere in the world to monitor sales and make bids over the internet.
The firm’s managing partner Stephen Whittaker said the egg pendants should make for an exciting sale.
He said: “There are five up for grabs and we have listed them individually, rather than put them together as a single lot. They are popular collectors’ items, and I’m sure there will be lots of interest on the day.”
