Nashville, TN – Fourteen year old thinkaboutit records artist Robert Pierre is gearing up to reach area youth in the western suburbs of Chicago, Ill., with a special "Inside Out Wheaton" concert event to be held at the Fine Arts Center at Wheaton Academy in Wheaton, Ill., on Saturday, November 3, 2007. Free and open to the public, the event will begin at 7:00 p.m. CST, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Pierre will perform songs from his debut album, Inside Out, with a live band and will be joined by youth speaker Justin Lookadoo. The "Inside Out Wheaton" event aims to challenge students to live their life in Christ "inside out" and is a call to action for students to be proactive in their faith. In addition to the free concert event on November 3rd, Pierre and Lookadoo will also be reaching out to area students with special chapel service performances at Aurora Christian School in Aurora, Ill., on Thursday, November 1st, and at Wheaton Academy on Friday, November 2nd. At the chapel services, middle school and junior and senior high students will enjoy two songs by Pierre and listen as Lookadoo speaks on relationship issues affecting students today.
The Wheaton, Ill., area was chosen as it holds special ties to Robert Pierre and both sides of his family. Besides owning and operating a local publishing house and serving on the board of Wheaton College, Robert’s maternal great-grandfather, Robert C. Van Kampen, started the Billy Graham Association where he was chairman of the board for many years. Founder of Van Kampen Investments, Robert’s maternal grandfather, Robert Van Kampen, is an alumni of Wheaton Academy (as are Robert’s mother Karla and aunts) and Wheaton College. On the paternal side of his family, Robert’s grandfather, Dale Pierre, was the local high school wrestling coach, and his grandmother, Sandra Pierre, was a local realtor for over 20 years. Robert’s father, Scott Pierre, was also an All-American wrestler at Wheaton North High School.
With the release of Inside Out in November 2006, Robert Pierre has been receiving comparisons to Jump5, Jesse McCartney and Hanson from media outlets such as Focus on the Family’s Brio and Breakaway magazines for teens, Plugged In Magazine and Christian Music Planet Magazine. Pierre has been introducing tweens and their parents to his music through events like Rock the Universe 2006; "Inside Out Orlando," held at the House of Blues Orlando; and the Christ in Youth "Believe Tour," which hit ten markets throughout its October 2006-April 2007 run. He also recently completed a busy 2007 summer festival season with performances at the Crossover Festival, AtlantaFest, the Unity Christian Music Festival, the Rock the Light Festival and Rock the Universe 2007. Pierre’s interactive website further acquaints visitors with the teen artist by offering a preview of Inside Out through a flash audio jukebox player and downloads of buddy icons, banners, avatars and screensavers.
Justin Lookadoo is a former juvenile probation officer turned youth speaker. He has conducted over 3,500 presentations, speaking to over half a million students. Lookadoo has appeared on numerous radio and TV talk shows and is the best-selling author of "Dateable: Are You? Are They?" and "The Dateable Rules."
