The unrelated items are among 970 lots at an antique and modern jewellery auction at Fellows & Sons, on Thursday 18th October at 10.30am: http://www.fellows.co.uk/
The auctioneer is based in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham, UK. You can see its website at http://www.fellows.co.uk.
Managing partner Stephen Whittaker said: “Birmingham has a rich history of both antique and modern jewellery; hence the fact the Jewellery Quarter even exists.
“It’s very exciting for my team of experts to discover a Birmingham hallmark on a piece of antique jewellery. That means it was probably made within a few miles of where they work, and gives them a real sense of the history and location of the pieces.”
Some of the items for sale include:
• An Edwardian 9 carat gold heart shape pendant with overlaid floral design detail and a sapphire set flower. It’s hallmarked Birmingham 1904, and is expected to fetch between £130 and £200
• A Victorian 9 carat gold double row curb link bracelet, with partial inter-spaced textured links to the one row, and a padlock. It is hallmarked Birmingham 1900, and is valued at £80 to £120.
• An Edwardian 9 carat gold bloodstone signet ring, with a central shield shape bloodstone panel. The hallmark is Birmingham 1901 and it’s valued at between £50 and £100
The items may all be for sale in their home city, but they could be bought by people all over the world.
Fellows & Sons has invested heavily in virtual catalogues online, and technology to allow global buyers to monitor sales and make bids over the internet.
