Cost Effective Benchmarking for Outsourced IT Services

The Corporate IT Forum is launching a new benchmarking service to give enterprise-level buyers of IT a more accurate understanding of whether they are gaining value from their outsourced supply contracts.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 11, 2007 -
The Corporate IT Forum is launching a new benchmarking service to give enterprise-level buyers of IT a more accurate understanding of whether they are gaining value from their outsourced supply contracts – and how their sourcing partnerships can be enhanced.

Designed, developed and financed entirely by the corporate organisations which make up the Forum, Continuous Performance Improvement for Outsourced IT Services (CPI OS) allows corporate users of IT to compare and contrast the cost and service levels of their contracts against those of other large businesses.

The new CPI OS service has been devised by the Forum in response to demands for an objective method of assessing how well their outsourced contracts compare with the contracts of other major businesses in terms of performance, service levels and costs.

The full service will be officially launched to corporate IT executives on November 1st 2007 at an event featuring presentations by IT leaders from BAA, British Energy, Friends Provident and Hampshire County Council.

John Parker, director of improvement services for The Corporate IT Forum said: “IT buyers need to be able to understand whether they are getting a good deal from existing outsourced contracts – they also need to be sure about the cost and service levels outsourcers provide before they go to the market.”

“IT users told us that they were finding it impractical and too costly to discover how their outsourced contracts compared with the services given to other companies – and they didn’t want to depend on suppliers offering to benchmark themselves.”

“CPI OS will provide transparency in the market for IT buyers by giving them the power to judge for themselves whether they’re getting value for money from their outsourcing contracts.  We expect CPI OS will revolutionise the procurement process, increase competition and mark a step change in the relationships between corporate IT users and suppliers.”

“CPI benchmarking is about constantly improving IT’s overall performance, not just about seeing where you are at a point in time.

CPI OS is being launched alongside a new and expanded Continuous Performance Improvement Enterprise benchmarking service.  The full CPI Enterprise benchmarking service allows IT users to compare their entire IT estate’s performance – including the perceptions of internal IT customers – with other corporates and then discuss findings directly with other users.  The service, which already allows users to benchmark across a range of areas such as desktops, infrastructure and staff costs, has been significantly
expanded to include complex network services such as LANs, WANs and eCommerce.
