Mobile network O2 has given the 15th October as the release date of its new broadband service, which will be rolled out to 50% of UK Internet users and is expected to reach speeds of up to 24mbps.
O2 boasts that its new products will be suitable to all users, and that customer service will be top of its agenda. The company plans to run line checks on the service to give it's customers a clear idea of their expected speeds. Current O2 mobile phone customers are expected to receive discounted rates on the new service.
Broadband Genie CEO Philip Wilkinson says: “O2 broadband has been awaited with great anticipation for some time now so it’s good to see the product is finally ready for release.
“It will be interesting to see if the O2 line-testing policy helps to improve customers trust in the service. It certainly looks like the company has learned from the mistakes made by other ISPs in regard to over promising and under-delivering on broadband speeds.”
