PRLog (Press Release)Oct 02, 2007 – GREENVILLE, N.C. – A regional science center doing business as Go-Science, is currently being developed in Greenville, North Carolina.

Go-Science will enhance the level of science and math literacy among the eastern North Carolina population, serving over 600,000 people in 19 economically depressed eastern North Carolina counties. The Center will be open to the public as a regional resource and will offer programs for people of all ages.

“We are very excited to announce that a science center is in the works for this community,” comments Dr. John Meredith, chair, Go-Science. “Go-Science will significantly benefit this community by providing the resources to improve the quality of learning among various publics. It will also inspire students of all ages to pursue higher levels of mathematic and scientific literacy.”

As a key component in the cultural and economic development within Pitt County, Go-Science will enrich the community through its on-site and outreach programs. Such programs will include exciting, hands-on activities relevant to current curriculums while also educating teachers in new technologies that can be used as teaching aids.

Go-Science will include a planetarium; temporary and permanent exhibit spaces; a Challenger Learning Center; The East Carolina University Center for Science, Technology, and Math Education; advanced life-sciences and physics-chemistry
classrooms; as well as a local television station weather department and studio. In addition, the facility will include a gift shop and café for visitors.

Go-Science is currently seeking corporate and private sponsors to aid in its establishment. For more information on Go-Science and sponsorship opportunities, call (252) 328-6922 or visit www.go-science.org.
