The PM outlined plans that guaranteed a job interview for every lone parent, while offering a £400 training allowance to employers for equipping their “fast-track”
However, what the government has failed to outline, is exactly how its plan for training will work. Brown’s “employment plan” sounds great in terms of numbers, but to what extent will it meet the needs of the unemployed? Furthermore, what level of bureaucracy will employers have to endure in order to access this money, particularly in light of previous initiatives that have shown excessive red tape actually puts employers off, and so will limit the opportunities for exactly those that the Government is aiming to help? A guaranteed interview certainly sounds like a positive “fast-track”
Gordon Brown’s plans to increase opportunities for employment amongst the sea of unemployed young people are welcome, but sound weighed with numbers. The prime minister has failed to address a number of key issues, or offer alternative solutions to working with employers. Fuse Jobs - as London’s entry-level job site - has devised its own “fast-track”
