The overall theme of the UK Energy Saving Halloween tips is to reduce waste, whether it be by making costumes and party food or buying reusable decorations. None if this will reduce the fun to be had but will make a significant difference to the waste often associated with events such as these. With regards to bonfire night, the key to being greener is to keep fires to a minimum as the smoke is the most serious environmental issue. “Attend a community event or think of alternatives to a large bonfire and bear in mind that fireworks are much more environmentally friendly than a fire and are often the best bit of the evening anyway!” suggests Hayley Jones.
