HIGHLY-AWARDED CARTOON TURNS TEN YEARS OLD EXPANDS RETAIL DIVISION
& LAUNCHES TWO WORLD'S FIRST: CARTOON GOURMET COFFEE & CARTOON
DESIGNER CLOTHING
Cartoonist, writer, e-entrepreneur Rick London announced today from his studio in Hot Springs,
Ar. that to celebrate Londons Times Cartoons 10th anniversary, he has launched his own private
label gourmet coffee gift basket which includes cartoon mugs and coasters along with five gourmet
farm-fresh coffees that can be found exclusively at his mega store www.LTSuperstore.com and
the world's first (to his knowledge) cartoon designer clothing at www.ricklondonwear.com .
London's mega store products are manufactured by one of Ebays largest and oldest powersellers
3drose who has completed over 11,000 transactions with a 99.4% success rate, almost unheard of
at any auction site. In addition to featuring his t-shirts, ornaments, coffees, mousepads, sweats,
and more on his own site, 3drose offers them at Ebay.com, Amazon.com, Shop.com, Shopping.com
and most of the other major shopping channels; about 70,000 products in all.
London launched Londons Times Cartoons www.londonstimes.us in 1997. His story has
become legendary on the Internet in that he was out of work, lived and worked in an abandoned
warehouse in rural Mississippi and had assets that included about $300, a beat-up barely functioning
IBM 386 clone computer, a book titled “Internet 4 Dummies” (he knew nothing about the web), a
phone line, a free domain site, and a stray dog “Thor” which is still with him a decade later.
London says that, though he feels he writes humor rather well and can create concepts, he is
not much of an artist so he recruited some of the top cartoon illustrators found on the Internet to
render his ideas. The first year he had about 75 b/w cartoons drawn by one illustrator. Today
his top-rated site has about 8000 (mostly color) cartoons and over 7.8 million visitors since
January of 2005.
The site has won The Admiral's Award, The Best Of Hawaii Aloha Award, The Inklink
award and others.
London offers specials at his mega store such as $2 engraving on any item with the
customers company name and web address to make for a most unique corporate gift.
London also has launched several niche stores with products including his cartoons.
One is the somewhat controversial Prozac Wear www.prozacwear.com which includes
products such as t-shirts, coasters, sweats, etc. showcasing cartoons regarding depression
and antidepressants. London, who has suffered from depression says the products are
“wonderful therapy”. He says he does not consider them an alternative for traditional
treatment, but finds that when people can laugh at themselves, they generally feel a lot
better.
He also owns www.justfunnyaprons.com and www.justfunnyhoodies.com and is
planning to expand even more over the next year.
From his Hot Springs fifth floor studio overlooking the beautiful Ouachita Mountains London
says, “When I started all this, I never for a minute thought it would turn into anything but
a small hobby, something to keep my mind busy until I could land a sales job somewhere.
But it kept growing and changing, and great illustrators were contacting me asking for
a chance to audition, I was getting requests to send autographed cartoons, and manufacturers
were calling to make and sell our products.”
Then I thought to myself, “Duh, Rick, this is really more than a hobby. You might just
be operating a real business, the most fun business anyone could ever do.”
