Sept. 27, 2007 - PRLog -- It didn't take long for Nickleodeon to realize they had a hit on their hands and increase the number of shows in production.   And why shouldn't they?  The shows executive Producer is none other than Dan Schneider, the man who brought you Drake & Josh.  Originally Nickleodeon only committed to the purchase of 13 episodes, but it then raised the number to 20 , and even later all the way up to 40!  This is a huge commitment to a brand new show, but test audiences and the reception by pre-teen fans has supported Nickleodeon's decision.

iCarly stars Miranda Cosgrove fresh off her role of  Megan on Drake and Josh, which was another Nickleodeon hit.  The cast is rounded out by Jennette McCurdy, who plays Carly's best friend Sam, Nathan Kress, who plays the lovesick techno geek, Freddie, and Jerry Trainor, who plays Carly's older brother Spencer.  Jerry is fairly famous for his role as Crazy Steve on Drake & Josh.

The storyline for how Carly, Sam and Freddie first began their wWeb show, iCarly goes like this: Sam, Carly's best friend, took their teacher's (Ms. Briggs) head
and photoshopped it onto the body of a rhinoceros. Ms. Briggs found out and Carly took the blame because Sam would have been expelled from school because of her bad record.  As punishment Ms. Briggs made Carly come in on Saturday and conduct all of the school's talent show auditions.  Carly decided since it was all Sam's fault that she would have to help her, and poor old love sick Freddie agreed to help tape the auditions just to be around Carly.  Most of the auditions were lame with the exception of a few of them.   Freddie started getting a little bored and began taping Carly and Sam when they started making fun of Ms. Briggs without knowing about it.  Everything went fine until Freddie was supposed to download the auditions to the Web. He screwed up and downloaded the footage of Carly and Sam making fun of Ms. Briggs instead.  They couldn't get the tape down for the weekend and in that time over 23,000 people had seen it.  A bunch of people posted saying that they loved the video, and Carly, Sam, and Freddie decided that they should do their own show and call it iCarly.  Their first full live show was a huge success and now  Carly and Sam are stars on their own web show.

We love the cast and concept of iCarly. It is the first show to marry Webcasting to television broadcasting to appeal to the growing population of "wired" kids. Kids can watch the show, see a webcast embedded in the television show, visit the iCarly Web site that overlaps with the webcast on the television show, and then, if they really want to be creative, make their own video to be sent to iCarly and possibly be on TV.  We predict that iCarly will be a huge hit!  And to prove it, there are already iCarly fan sites up on the web.  One of which is http://www.iCarly-Show.com
