PRLog (Press Release) –
Sep 23, 2007 – In 1995, algir released it's first album, "passion and loyalty" (Neemanot ve' tshoka), the eight tracks, were unfamiliar to the Israeli ear, which was not ready to unusual text, lyrics and melody. Israel was begining the split between secularistic and religious community right after Rabin's death in Tel-Aviv, and had no time to spend on the young rebels from Talmei Eliyaho, a long south forgotten town in Israel, populated mostly with old, unemployed elderly, which population is only 240. from that background tried Aviv gedge, and Gavriel belhasan to raise, but soon after the release of the album were forgotten.
Aviv tried to struggle his way, but couldn't manage, Gavriel and him, found them self in Rabbinical college in jerusalem, where they tried to connect with god but couldn't, and soon after again in some what ironical way led them self to institution. gavriel and aviv, were left with huge amount of residues from the past, and in 2004, they released under barby records 'Menoim kadima' (engines full ahead), which caought allmost every ear that took the time to listen, the songs again weren't adapted by the mainstream audioance, since major radio stations such as GALGALZ, which is an israeli militery music only radio, refused to give an opportunity due to strict 'moral codes' that the band didn't accept. The fans grew rapidly, without the help of israeli radio stations, and it seems that at last algir is riding the way to success. after quite an exhausted tour, which were a complete sold out, algir found herself crashed, probably due to mental exhaustion, which led to Gavriel's hospitalization. Aviv gedge, left back to the south, to start working on his new material, and it seemed as if all the ALGIR concept is gone, which left the audioance, with nothing but the sweet (sour) memories. as to July 2007, the main web site was also gone from the search engines, and with this sad notice, a few fans decided to bring up and new version of the site. we would like to invite you to listen to Algir's music here at - http://www.algir.info
