Spiral Biotech to Highlight Microbial Solutions at Conf on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy

Spiral Biotech (www.spiralbiotech.com), will feature a suite of leading, innovative microbial solutions at the 2007 Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC).

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Sep 17, 2007 – NORWOOD, MASS. – September 18, 2007 - Spiral Biotech (www.spiralbiotech.com), will feature a suite of leading, innovative microbial solutions at the 2007 Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC).

At the conference, Spiral Biotech will highlight the Spiral Gradient Endpoint (SGE) software for antimicrobial susceptibility determination, Color QCount for rapid bacteria colony counting, and the Autoplate 4000 spiral plater for microbial evaluation.

Visit Spiral Biotech at the Conference in Booth #650 for more information about:

•   The SGE™ software includes features that enable more flexible, sensitive, and accurate minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determination.  The SGE software calculates the precise concentration of compound at the endpoint of growth for each microbe and removes the limits of two-fold values, saving time and materials.  SGE’s intuitive interface enables the user to easily print or export data into spreadsheet format, providing a diagram of the plate image as data is entered. SGE calculates precise MIC and gives two-fold equivalents, saves user-defined stock concentrations and plate layouts for future use, and provides convenient user-defined libraries of microbes and antimicrobials.  Available from Spiral Biotech at http://www.aicompanies.com/SBI_products/sge/sge.htm.

•   The Color QCount® illuminates the way for faster, easier, and more accurate automated microbial enumeration. Utilizing the latest digital FireWire™ technology, the Color QCount allows users to capture full color sample images --while its patented technology breaks through the limitations of clustered colonies to deliver sharp, error-free plate counts.  The Color QCount's ease of use allows technicians to read plates quickly and efficiently -- resulting in an extraordinary savings of time that can now be better allocated to the performance of other important responsibilities. Available from Spiral Biotech at http://www.aicompanies.com/SBI_products/cQcount/cqcount.htm.

•   The Autoplate® 4000 uses an innovative microprocessor controlled spiral plating technology.  Following an AOAC-approved method (# 977.27), the Autoplate 4000 plates microbial suspensions without the need for serial dilutions. This results in greater sample repeatability and a considerable savings in time, labor, and disposable materials, when compared to conventional plating methods.  Designed to help laboratory technicians utilize time and materials more effectively, the Autoplate 4000 is ideal for any laboratory that uses microbial concentration samples greater than 1,000 cfu/g or cfu/ml or any application where counts are high and standardization and reproducibility are key. Available from Spiral Biotech at http://www.aicompanies.com/SBI_products/ap4000/ap4000.htm.
