Mobile network O2 looks poised to enter the broadband market in the next few months. It has been contacting its contract mobile customers inviting them to register their interest in the new broadband service.
Its website boasts that it will have a package to suit every user from casual surfers to internet addicts. Its mobile customer base will get discounted deals and there will be a free UK-based helpline.
Broadband Genie CEO Philip Wilkinson says: “O2 broadband has been a concept banded around for some time now so it’s good to see the product is finally on its way.
“It will be interesting to see if O2 will offer a bundled product with a mobile phone or go down the “free broadband” route taken by Orange and TalkTalk. However hopefully it will have learnt from the mistakes made by these companies regarding over promising and under-delivering.”
