Docking Video Game Just Might Save Your Marriage
Docking can be hard on your boat, your pride and your marriage. It is arguably the toughest thing we boaters do. So in an effort to add the fun back in, MadMariner.com gives you The Docking Game, a video game that makes entering the marina painless.
Choose your boat and progress through more than 20 levels that require you to pull into floating docks, T-heads, polls, finger piers and anything else we could concoct. The marinas are modeled after actual places. The conditions too are realistic: you will encounter wind, currents, waves, traffic, darkness and even some marine life. Of course, it gets harder as you go.
The Docking Game can be found on our home page, and can be played free by all who visit the site. High scores are kept on your computer, so you can track how you do. Just to be clear: it's not that we want you to practice. Getting good in a real boat requires getting behind a real helm. Rather, The Docking Game is more of a reminder that coming in and out of a slip is a skill, and that it is fun to challenge ourselves and improve. If nothing else, it will give us all something to do during the winter months.
MadMariner.com is an online publication for recreational boaters that publishes new feature stories every single day. For more about the site, please visit our About page or contact Editor Glen Justice with questions.
