Mike Wheatley, Toledo APICS Chairman of the Board, and Bruce Brechin, Toledo APICS Chapter President, have been selected as co-recipients of The 2007 APICS National Student Chapter Mentor Award. The Student Chapter Mentor Award commemorates a mentor's success in advancing the APICS vision through support of a student chapter. Both Mike and Bruce will be recognized by profiles in APICS magazine and on the APICS Web site. The award will be formally presented at the APICS 50th Anniversary Banquet on Saturday October 20th at the APICS International Conference in Denver.
The award notification states, “The Student Chapter Mentor Award signifies superior leadership and exceptional contributions as a student mentor and local APICS leader. Your demonstrated commitment to the APICS Toledo chapter, steadfast leadership in the APICS community, and dedication to the APICS student chapter at Bowling Green State University, merit this prestigious award. Students are our future, and your work has certainly helped to inspire many students to pursue APICS membership and volunteerism.”
The recipient selection is based on leadership and innovation in mentoring activities, contributions to APICS parent chapter, region, or the society, student chapter leadership, leadership in college/university and other professional associations, and community service.
Both Mike and Bruce are delighted and honored to receive this prestigious award. They extend their appreciation to Karen Eboch, the Bowling Green State University student chapter adviser for initiating their nomination and to the other chapter members, student and professional, who added their support. The Bowling Green State University student chapter has been recognized as a Gold Award Level chapter for their student chapter management program.

· Offering on-going classroom training in Toledo and surrounding areas
· Partnering with Jackson Community College to offer training in Southern Michigan
· Offering Professional Development meetings throughout the year
· Organizing plant and facility tours for benchmarking
· Offering eight (8) $500 college scholarships per year to university students
· Supporting 3 certifications in the Operations Management field
The Toledo chapter has in excess of 340 members and is operated by local professional volunteers as a non-profit organization.
