Aug. 31, 2007 - PRLog -- It is a poignant tale of addiction, concerning her deep reliance on alcohol as well as the drug dependencies of those around her.
Ms. Bowman vividly recounts how she left England at the age of nineteen, pregnant and scared, to go to America to meet up with her young husband.
She had no idea what the future held and had not a clue how she would manage.
Soon, she grew restless and took to drinking. She met another man whom she eventually moved in with and then married.
That marked the beginning of her downward spiral as this man turned out to be an alcoholic, himself, and worse, a very abusive individual. Ms. Bowman suffered endless misery at his hands, causing her much regret for having left her husband. By this time, alcohol fully controlled her life, and she could not function without ingesting a hefty dose on a daily basis.

Eventually, she met someone else, whom she later married, and thus finally broke free of the abusive relationship she was in. This new fellow, at first, appeared to be her knight in shinning armor but soon turned into a monster, himself. He was not only dependent on booze but on hard drugs as well. It made Ms. Bowman's life a living hell, which culminated in the loss of her left leg below the knee.

In spite of such a devastating injury, Ms Bowman could not break free from her drinking. It was only years later when she was touched by the spirit of the Lord that she signed herself in at AA and successfully completed their twelve point program.

This tale will tug at one's heartstrings and make one realize how alcohol can have such a powerful hold over an individual and the devastating consequences that can ensue.

"Spiral into Hell" is a book that belongs in every home where dependency on alcohol or other drugs is an issue.
In fact, this memoir should be read by everyone, as it is a tribute to how the human spirit can overcome insurmountable adversity and rise from the lowest depths that an individual may sink to.
