BMC to Manage New Boutique Hotel in Downtown Atlanta

Located at the intersection of Ellis and Peachtree Street and named after the street that runs along the north side of the building, The Ellis Hotel tells the story of a new day for downtown Atlanta.  RD Management LLC purchased the building for $2.2 million in 2000 and embarked on an extensive $26 million historic rehabilitation of this historic landmark into one of the city’s hottest new destinations.  Prior to that, the building stood vacant for decades as the city rapidly built up around it.  Stevens & Wilkinson Stang & Newdow partnered with Juneau Construction to meticulously preserve The Ellis’s original floor plan while putting the hotel back into service and maintaining the historical integrity including returning the signature “air terrace” that once hung over Peachtree Street.  Cleveland-based Spectrum Design Services spearheaded the postmodern classic contemporary interior design. There was care taken to preserve the building’s facades and replace all the windows with exact replicas.  This historic rehab has an eye to both the past and present with its clean and timeless interior design and furnishings featuring stone and wood floors in the public space areas.  “We have attempted to create classic post-modern interiors to pay homage to the classic and historical structure in which the hotel resides.,” said Susan Griffin, partner, Kelco/RD Management.  “We hope that the interiors and exteriors are a perfect complement to one another.
