Izegem, August, 2007 - Skyline Communications, global leading supplier of multi-vendor network management solutions, announces that the leading Belgian cable operator Telenet further expands its DataMiner network management system for both return path monitoring across their entire HFC network infrastructure and monitoring of its Uninterruptible Power Supplies in the recently acquired UPC Belgium network.
In the late 90’s Telenet deployed a Phasor return path monitoring system, a solution which served the company well but became outdated. Because of the unique DataMiner multi-vendor capabilities the installed base of Phasor hardware can be migrated directly into the DataMiner network management software, and hence the company can continue to leverage the substantial investments in the legacy proprietary DSP-565 analyzers and RPS return path switches, which results in significant savings.
As a result of the migration, Telenet will dispose of a state-of-the-
Furthermore, Telenet decided to deploy DataMiner also for the monitoring and control of the Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS), equipped with EuroDOCSIS modems, in the recently acquired HFC network of UPC Belgium. With the DataMiner network management system, Telenet will now have full visibility on the status of all UPS’ deployed in the HFC outdoor plant, and the DataMiner intelligent battery management features will protect the considerable investment in batteries, and extend their life time. And important added value is also generated by the fact that the UPS’ are now integrated into the same NMS environment as the optical nodes, optical transmitter/
“Telenet was already one of our prime customers for our DataMiner technology, as the solution was already deployed for the end-to-end management of their entire master headend for interactive digital services in Mechelen and for the management of technical infrastructure such as amongst other optical transmitter/
