Mayors And Chairs Of 11 Local Authorities To Meet Over Shannon Airport To Heathrow Flights

The Mayors and Chairpersons of 11 Local Authorities in the West of Ireland will attend a meeting in the Oakwood Arms Hotel, Shannon, County Clare at 4pm on Thursday 30th August 2007.

The Mayors and Chairpersons of 11 Local Authorities in the West of Ireland will attend a meeting in the Oakwood Arms Hotel, Shannon, County Clare at 4pm on Thursday 30th August 2007.  The aim of the meeting will be to discuss the recent announcement by Aer Lingus to cease operating flights between Shannon Airport and London-Heathrow.  Mayor of Clare Cllr. Patricia McCarthy will host the meeting.  Members of the media are invited to attend the event.  Photograph and interview opportunities will be provided.

WHO:
The meeting will be attended by the Mayor of Clare, Mayor of Sligo, Mayor of Roscommon, Mayor of Galway City, Mayor of County Galway, Chairperson of Limerick County Council, Mayor of Limerick City, Mayor of Kerry, Mayor of North Tipperary County Council, Mayor of Tipperary South County Council and Mayor of Mayo.

Notes to Editor:
-   Directions to hotel from Shannon Airport - Travel for 2km on the main airport road, the hotel is situated 400 metres past the first roundabout and on the left hand side.  From Ennis or Limerick - Turn off the N18 onto the N19 to Shannon Airport; the Hotel is situated 300 meters past the first set of traffic lights on the right hand side.
