PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 27, 2007 -
BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ, August 18, 2007–As the lazy days of summer draw to a close and the time comes to start thinking of “back to school, back to work”…it’s the perfect time to spend a day focusing on how to make your career and your job work for you and your family.

Enter the “Detours and OnRamps” Forum. This full-day event does what no one else has done, to date—it brings together the recruiters, the resources, and the companies that are “talking the talk and walking the walk” with regard to attracting and retaining bright, qualified women who want to make career work for themselves and for their families. Keynoting the event are several well-known speakers, such as Carol Fishman Cohen, author of “Back on the Career Track” and Janet Bodnar, author of several bestselling books about money and finances. Balancing these talks are sessions focused on the practical steps involved in “career pathing”…from how to interview and land a job on your terms, to how to define what those terms are; from entrepreneurship options to the best corporations out there today for working parents. And with networking time built in to the event’s close it is guaranteed to be a well-spent day for anyone interested in getting back to work within the next few months to a year.

Registration for the event even comes with a limited time “special offer” of a referral bonus…so for everyone who’s had the conversation with a friend on “Is it time to get back on the career ship?”—now’s the time to call that friend and spend a day testing the waters!

“We’re very excited about our agenda and the amazing speakers and partners who have joined us to make this event a reality,” said Kirsten Ly, Forum Co-Founder. “These are the resources WE needed for our own career-pathing, and I think everyone will find that this is a hugely relevant event”.

“Our primary focus has been, and will continue to be, working mothers,” adds Meghan McCartan, the Forum’s other co-founder. “But we’ve had interest as well from dads wanting to ‘strike a balance’ and from young women planning to have children and wanting to manage their career from the driver’s seat. I think everyone will gain a lot from the great sessions and speakers we’ve got on tap.”

While the inaugural conference is scheduled for October 8, 2007 in the NYC-metro area, additional events are planned for Washington, DC and Boston, MA in Spring of 2008. For more information including a complete agenda, and to register, visit http://www.onrampsforum.com.
