PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 27, 2007 -
New York City, NY  August 27, 2007 -- TheIssue.com, the Internet's first blog newspaper, is proud to announce its launch to the public on August 27th, 2007.  TheIssue.com is a first to market online news destination that exclusively features blog articles and other citizen media.  Despite the exploding popularity of blogs and their evolution from Internet curiosities into serious media destinations, there is currently no viable "blog only" newspaper replacement.  TheIssue.com fills this gap.

Stephen Puschel, cofounder, remarked, "The news helps to define the general perception of the world we live in.  I think it's critical that this perception is not just dominated by large corporations, but that individual voices can have an influence."  Matt Dalio, cofounder, said, "By harnessing the diversity of the blogosphere, we can serve as a window into any perspective, helping our readers develop a three dimensional understanding of every issue we cover."

TheIssue.com is a new and completely unique breed of digital media provider.  Articles are handpicked from a regularly updated database of thousands of high quality blogs in order to provide readers with a breadth of perspective and depth of reporting not currently offered by any existing single news source.

Andrew Puschel, Chief Marketing Officer, stated, "We are incredibly excited to fill what we think is an obvious niche in online news.  TheIssue.com is truly unique in that it provides a vehicle for the average reader to benefit from the wealth of perspectives and information found within the blogosphere."

A blog, short for weblog, is a website in which an individual or group produces periodic entries that are displayed in reverse chronological order.  The range of topics written on by bloggers is practically limitless.  It is possible to find blogs on subjects as common as gardening, as esoteric as nuclear fission, and as offbeat as one can imagine.  While their quality ranges as widely as their subject matter, many blogs are recognized for their excellence, acumen, and candor.  "Most bloggers are writing on what they care about, so there's an honesty and genuineness there that news really needs," commented Joshua Haas, Chief Technology Officer.

Over a quarter of all Americans have visited at least one blog, and many of these individuals turn to blogs as their primary news sources.  Despite this unprecedented popularity there exists no viable option for readers simply looking to get high quality daily news from the blogosphere.  Until now.

Readers of TheIssue.com will have free and unprecedented access to blog articles handpicked by an editorial team for relevance, quality, and diversity of perspective.  The home page features headline news, news by genre, a What Ever Happened To… section, and The Issue of the Day--a deep dive into a particular topic featuring contrasting perspectives from multiple articles.  Old content will be archived for easy access in the future.
