Trades Recognition Australia Changes To Tra’s Fee Structure

From 1 July 2007, TRA will implement a new fee structure for International and Domestic stream applications. We are adjusting our fees to ensure they are compatible with our service delivery standards.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Aug 22, 2007 – From 1 July 2007, TRA will implement a new fee structure for International and Domestic stream applications. We are adjusting our fees to ensure they are compatible with our service delivery standards. The changes will also provide more consistency between the International and Domestic treams.

Changes to International Stream Fees

1. The Government’s directive to give priority to assessing MODL applications and improvements to TRA’s service delivery standards, means the vast majority of international applications are processed in 20 working days or less (10 working days in the case of MODL applications) - see TRA’s key performance indicators below). Therefore, from 1 July 2006, TRA will implement a standard international application fee of $300. From 1 July 2006, the $500 fee for priority assessments will no longer apply. Changes to Domestic Stream Fees

2. To further promote the transition of skilled migrants into the Australian labour market, TRA will not require a $100 application fee for a domestic trade certificate where the person has already been assessed in TRA’s international stream. Applicants in these circumstances have already paid an application fee to have their skills assessed in the international stream.

3. Owing to an increasing demand for TRA’s domestic services, TRA can no longer absorb the administrative cost of reapplications for a trade certificate. Some applicants make multiple reapplications, either with or without providing additional nformation.

Therefore, from 1 July 2006, TRA will implement a $300 reapplication fee. In the event of an unsuccessful Domestic application, applicants may submit a reapplication with or without any additional information. If the decision is overturned with no new information, the $300 reapplication is returned. If the decision is overturned based on

new information, the $300 reapplication fee is retained.

TRA’s key performance indicators

As previously advised, on 1 July 2006, TRA will also implement new performance indicators

• 95% of international MODL are finalised within 10 working days

• 95% of all other applications are finalised within 20 working days.
