The Paper Mill Store Slashes Its Carbon Dioxide Output

Aug. 21, 2007 - PRLog -- Sun Prairie, Wis. (August 21, 2007) – The Paper Mill Store .com received a surprising phone call from its gas company, WE Energies, located in the Paper Valley in Wisconsin. WE was concerned because The Paper Mill Store’s natural gas usage had plummeted, and they figured something was wrong. Quite to the contrary, everything was right. The Paper Mill Store had reduced the usage of natural gas in its plant, through a new equipment purchase and by using common sense to better manage usage.

The Paper Mill Store’s goal was to adjust environmental controls to maintain proper humidity and temperature levels in its manufacturing area without using supplemental heat. Ultimately this would reduce costs and have a positive effect on the environment. After identifying the natural gas usage problem as improper calibration of two separate control systems, adjustments were made. The result is an annual natural gas savings of 1250 therms of natural gas usage, or the equivalent of about seven tons of carbon dioxide gas prevented from entering the atmosphere.
