One of the largest multi-faculty colleges of the University of London, Queen Mary has chosen a new student and course management system from Tribal in a deal worth £1.3 million over six years. The contract is the 126th addition to Tribal’s user community who have chosen SITS:Vision and e:Vision to give students and staff real time web-based access to applications, registrations, examinations and other elements of academic progress.
Queen Mary has chosen the full suite of SITS:Vision modules for its 11,000 students. Modules cover the point of enquiry through to graduation, including results, enrolments, payment of fees online, timetabling, examinations, surveys, graduation ceremonies for all types of students and the management of research students. Installation will begin in September 2007, with the system going live for student enrolments in September 2009. The college’s UK and international students study in four faculties in the heart of London plus Barts and The London, Queen Mary’s School of Medicine and Dentistry. Other University of London colleges already using the SITS:Vision software suite includes the London School of Economics and Political Science, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Courtauld Institute and King’s College London.
Queen Mary has been using its own in-house developed system for 15 years and it has been agreed by all that the SITS:Vision solution will offer a massive leap forward in the administration of courses, students and staff. Business processes will become much more efficient, with online access for all. SITS:Vision will enhance the whole student experience from enquiry, through to online application and enrolment, online assessment and results, online award calculations and the processing of graduations.
Stefan Milik, SIS project manager at Queen Mary commented, “After a thorough selection process, SITS:Vision was the clear winner across most of our evaluation categories and a popular choice within the college. We look forward to working with Tribal, drawing on its undoubted expertise and continuing commitment towards a successful implementation.”
Steve Hope, software sales director at Tribal, says, “Tribal welcomes Queen Mary as an important addition to our growing user base, which is now the largest and most active IT systems user community in the UK. We welcome Queen Mary’s commitment to our solution, not least because they will be using every aspect of our product portfolio and have ambitious plans to improve access to information for all with our student system at the heart of their IT infrastructure.”
This year’s SITS:Vision annual user conference was a two day residential event attended by around 220 clients, with a keynote address from Nigel Paul, director of corporate services at the University of Edinburgh. Over the last year alone, Tribal’s software team has won SITS:Vision orders totalling almost £6 million from leading higher education establishments. Other clients include the University of Nottingham, the University of the West of England and INTO University Partnerships Ltd, an initiative set to transform international pathway provision in joint venture arrangements with a number of UK universities.
