Nomination for the Black Web Awards ran for a two-month period that ended in the late August, and a panel of judges selected websites that made it to the finals. Finalists were then announced at a live press conference at the Reginald F Lewis Museum of African American History and Culture in Baltimore.

The Black Web Awards are the first effort to recognize and celebrate African, African American and Caribbean excellence online. After an eight week open nomination process, the Black Web Award's received over 2,000 unique nominations from 24 countries. The ballots close on October 19, 2007.
