New site Canucklehead.ca launches
London, ON - August 17, 2007
The urban dictionary defines a canucklehead as a Canadian of limited intelligence. The creators of the new canuckehead.ca do not appear to qualify based on their recently launched website.
Built using Karelia's Sandvox software, this site is an immediate standout with it's crisp look and entertaining content. The site bills itself as being the provider for "all things Canadian: beer, hockey and humour," and does not disappoint. While clearly geared toward the lighter side of the Canadian identity, the patriotic undertones are clear. The site's founder, Lincoln McCardle explains that the idea of the site was born when he was on reading jokes about Canada and realized he was on a American site and continues, "Canadians are world-renowned for their comedic talent and to think that there was not a site by Canadians dedicated to Canadian humour seemed preposterous."
While success seems assured, their is now telling what the future holds for this site with fresh content constantly being added and the public commitment to evolve and (hopefully) improve based on feedback from visitors. In true Canadian fashion, the goal is to entertain most while offending none. As once noted by John Cruickshank:
