Can Energy Saving Software Reverse Global Warming?

Today, South Beach Software is please to announce the launch of the Save Our Planet Software Initiative. Save Our Planet is a software initiative to get 100 million people worldwide to conserve energy on a daily basis using the Save Our Planet software.  We believe that 100 million people conserving energy on a daily basis will be a major influence on the other 6 billion people on this earth.  This action should move the trend from people generally ignoring the global warming problem, to a broad cross-section of people taking action to conserve energy.

So what is Save Our Planet?  Save Our Planet is a software program that provides tools and strategies to help consumers conserve energy at home and work on a daily basis.  The software lets consumers monitor their daily energy conservation activities through a daily home, work, transportation, recycling and shopping checklist.  Save Our Planet also lets users perform their own energy audits, create a monthly energy conservation budget and monitor and track their efforts to reduce their energy related expenses.  In addition, the software provides energy saving ideas and encourages users to brainstorm new energy saving ideas on a daily basis.

During our research in developing Save Our Planet, we found that there are a lot of resources available on how to conserve energy.  However, most of this information is either too complex for the average person (using words like CO2 emissions, greenhouse gases, carbon offsets, etc.) or the information is not presented in a way that consumers can incorporate into their daily routine so energy conservation can become a habit in their lives.  

Save Our Planet users will earn points (called Planet Points) towards an energy conservation certificate by using the software to conserve energy.  The more they use the software, the more points they will earn.  Once the user reaches 100,000 points, they will be awarded an energy conservation certificate.  Since it will usually take from 30-to-60 days to earn an energy conservation certificates, most consumers will be in the habit of conserving energy by the time they earn their energy conservation certificate.  It generally takes about 30-days for something to become a habit.

“If we can get 100 million people to actively conserve energy on a daily basis, we believes that the planet can take a major step towards reversing the impact of global warming,” said Karl Hall, President of South Beach Software.  “In order to accomplish this monumental task, it will take a concerted effort from many organizations throughout the world.” Hall said.  Along those lines, South Beach Software is asking the following groups to support the Save Our Planet Software Initiative:

Oil, Utility and Insurance Companies
We are asking oil, utility and insurance companies to give customers that earn a conservation certificate a small discount on their products and services.  Users can then use their conservation certificate to save money on their energy related purchases.  

Federal State and Local Government Agencies
We are asking that Federal, State and Local government agencies adopt Save Our Planet as part of their energy conservation initiatives.  In addition, South Beach Software will provide free copies of Save Our Planet to low-income individuals and families through any Federal, State or Local government agency.

Software Companies
We ask that software companies consider providing software development and translation resources so that we can improve Save Our Planet and provide the software on every operating system and in every major language in the world.  The software currently runs on the Microsoft Windows operating system.  

Computer Companies
We are asking that every computer company place a Save Our Planet icon on the desktop of every computer they sell so that their customers can use the program to conserve energy and fight global warming on a daily basis.

Wireless Companies
We are asking that wireless companies partner with us to develop a wireless version of Save Our Planet and place it on every wireless telephone they sell.

Automobile Manufacturers
South Beach Software is asking all automobile manufacturers to provide a free copy of Save Our Planet to every customer that purchases a new vehicle.

Television Stations, Radio Stations, Newspapers and Magazines
South Beach Software is asking television stations, radio stations, newspapers and magazines to run stories related to Save Our Planet to help build consumer awareness of the program.

Online Media
We are asking online media companies to support Save Our Planet and run stories related to this effort.

Online Blogs
South Beach Software is asking all bloggers to use Save Our Planet to try to reduce their energy consumption by 20% or more and then blog about it.

Other Companies
We are asking companies to purchase Save Our Planet for their employees and to adopt energy conservation policies as part of their standard business processes.

Non-Profit Organization
South Beach Software is asking all non-profit organizations to help us promote this initiative.

We believe that global warming can be reversed.  Our environment has an amazing ability to heal itself over time.  However, it is up to us to take the steps needed to make a change in the way we interact with our environment.
