China and India have joined the World Health Organisation’
The Chinese clinical trial register, which was established in 2005, has recently met the criteria to submit its trial registry data to the WHO's web search portal. The Indian registry, launched on July 20th, is the most recent of the world's five primary registries, and was built to meet the WHO reporting requirements. It has yet to register its first trial.
Both registers will work closely with the medical journals in their region in line with the requirement of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors that clinical trials be publicly registered before the first participants are enrolled.
The WHO platform already includes: the International Standard Randomised Controlled Trial Number Register, published by Current Controlled Trials (UK); the Australian registry; and the US government’s database, www.clinicaltrials.gov. The WHO is currently evaluating nine more registers for inclusion, covering trials in South Africa, Hong Kong, Germany, Sweden and Latin America. Article submitted by www.jobs4dd.com
