Antiques are Becoming More Popular Among Inexperienced Buyers

Antique buying has been left to more experienced buyers, and brokers, in the past however now more first time antique buyers are getting a taste for how antiques can add flair to their home.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Aug 11, 2007 – The new craze for buying antiques has been partially fueled by the archaic look which is being pushed by interior designers at the moment.
An Antique buying website --www.antiquebuyersguide.com -- has revealed how consumers are now flocking towards antiques, and in particular antique furniture, as a means of decorating their home. They are adopting a new interior design style which has been dubbed the archaic look and involves a style which is much different from the contemporary look that many have become accustomed to. Where before experienced antique buyers and brokers would buy antiques, fully aware of their value and historic role, now new, less experienced, buyers are now attending antique auctions and intending to use them to decorate their home.
Stewart Douglas, of www.antiquesbuyersguide.com explains the affect this will have: "I am sure this will drive up the price of more practical items, which already have a premium attached to them. It will also mean that brokers and antique sellers will have an opportunity to capitalize on consumer ignorance, which is why we feel that it is important to inform people of market prices and things to look out for - such as identifying fakes for example."
The company behind www.antiquesbuyersguide.com has explained the increased success that their website has experienced during this time. They have seen their website traffic increase by over 50% and are also receiving daily emails asking their editors to answer questions that they have.
Stewart Douglas, of www.antiquesbuyersguide.com explains how consumers can avoid being scammed when purchasing antiques for the first time: "If you buy from an auction house or a well respected broker then you will be ok. The problem comes when people look towards buying items on eBay and from other, less reputable, sources. Consumers should ask questions and do their research to ensure that they do not end up getting stung when buying furniture and other items.
