Change Fan, a media company that uses Web 2.0 tools to build an information clearinghouse on how people and ideas are changing the world, launched today. At http://www.changefan.com, users submit, suggest, and comment on news articles, books, research papers, blogs, and cause campaigns that reflect the efforts of individuals and groups to rebuild communities, change lives, promote sustainability, and transform public policy.
“Think of us as ‘Digg’ for people who care about changing the world,” notes Founder Matthew Cabrera, in reference to the popular social bookmarking site. “We want to be the central gathering place on the web for social entrepreneurs, foundation executives, and policymakers seeking news, solutions, and best practices.”
“Change Fan,” Cabrera continues, “provides a vehicle for learning about responses to civic and social challenges around the world and a forum to share information, ideas, and ways to participate in making the world a better place.”
Change Fan organizes content within six “channels”
Change Fan is part of a class of internet services known as content aggregators, which pull disparate information from an ever-growing world wide web and package it for targeted audiences.
